About
Welcome to Tallahassee's newest Dining and Entertainment destination!
Jan 17, 2003 The countdown has begun for College Town.
This morning's groundbreaking ceremony for the facility officially marks the beginning of phase one for what is being called for the mixed-use entertainment district.
"This is a really important step for the city and the university," said Tom Jennings, Florida State University vice president for Advancement. "I'm very happy to see it moving forward."
The project is being headed off by the Seminole Boosters, Inc. It's something that has been in the works for about three years said Andy Miller, Seminole Boosters president. It will be a mixed-use building offering retail space on the ground floor and loft-style student living apartments upstairs.
CollegeTown will provide a pedestrian friendly place for FSU nightlife, Seminole football game day, and the newest in Tallahassee restaurants, bars and live music.
The goal of Madison Street at CollegeTown is to provide Florida State University with that "College Main Street" that it is currently missing. To provide a world class college experience for future students and athletes, and a sense of place, filled with memories for alumni. To act as a catalyst for the revitalization and re-use of the Madison Street/Gaines Street area. To one day become a place that might rival such famous college towns like Boulder, Ann Arbor, and Austin. A place where the Seminole tradition can continue to grow.
Whether you're a student on campus looking for THE place to meet up with friends or an FSU alumni looking for THE destination to catch up with ole' buds on Gameday...Madison St. at CollegeTown is THE place to be in Tallahassee.
